Directions for the Master Cleanse Diet

checklist_squareThe recipe for Master Cleanse success is a relatively simple one involving very few, regular ingredients combined with a determination to succeed. Let’s go over the most basic information you’ll need to experience the Master Cleanse Diet and achieve the results you are hoping for.

Generally speaking, there are two phases in the Master Cleanse Diet:

  • The Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet
  • Breaking the cleanse

Seems pretty simple, right? It is, but let’s go through each of these stages one by one so that you can understand how they work and why they’re important.

Beginning the Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet

Preparing for the Lemonade Diet

So, you’re ready to begin your Master Cleanse Diet, but you don’t want to jump in feet first without preparing your body for what it is about to experience. That’s why it’s important to ease yourself into the Master Cleanse experience.

You want to prepare your digestive system for less food and you want to prep your elimination organs by giving them foods that are very nutritious. To get ready to start the Lemonade Diet, try these simple steps:

  • On the first day, begin by eliminating processed foods and meat. You’re beginning to prepare your body by starting to eat more healthfully. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and look for Certified Organic produce whenever possible—you want to get rid of toxins, not add them!
  • On the second day, continue to eat veggies and fruits, but begin to juice them rather than just eating them whole. Here again you’re prepping your body by getting it used to receiving liquids instead of solids. Additionally, it delivers macro-nutrients directly to your system in a way that’s easy to process.
  • On the third day, you’re going to continue the preparation by introducing your body to fruit juices only. You should juice enough oranges to make 2 liters of orange juice which you can then dilute and drink with a bit of maple syrup to taste. This is the only thing you should intake on this day.

This phase is not required, although it is a good idea if this is your first time experiencing a cleanse.

Basics of the Lemonade Diet
Whether you’re a brave soul wanting to just dig in or you’ve done a bit of preparation work, here’s how the Lemonade Diet will work:

  • Do a daily morning Salt Water Flush.
  • Drink the Lemonade throughout the day to curb your appetite and get the calories you need for the day.
  • Have herbal tea in the evening.

Ingredients and tools needed for the Lemonade Diet
Let’s get you set up to start your Lemonade Diet. To begin, you’ll need to collect the ingredients for the Lemonade drink that you’ll be sipping throughout the day for the next 10 days. Here goes:

  • Filtered or spring water: In all, you’ll need 10 gallons of this pure water to make your Lemonade (one gallon per day). You’ll need additional water (and here we recommend healthy, filtered water as well to avoid introducing more toxins into your body) to drink plain when desired or needed.
  • Organic Grade B maple syrup: You need to be sure to buy this type of maple syrup—Grade B syrup has many more nutrients than Grade A syrup. And it’s important that it’s organic so that, yes, you can avoid adding toxins to your body during the cleanse. You’ll need between 50 and 60 ounces for the entire cleanse.
  • Organic lemon juice: Whatever you do, don’t buy the pre-squeezed lemon juice. It lacks the nutritional punch of freshly-squeezed lemon juice. And whenever possible, go for organic lemons (conventionally-grown lemons are treated with lots of agricultural chemicals that you don’t want in your body!). You’ll be drinking a lot of the Lemonade, and so you’ll need about 60 lemons for the entire cleanse.
  • Organic cayenne pepper: In addition to being a great source of vitamins B and C, cayenne pepper also helps to break up mucus and increases blood flow, so this is an important ingredient. Plus, it keeps your drink interesting! You’ll need about one small spice jar for the cleanse.

Next, you’ll want to make your journey through Lemonade Cleanse easier by having handy all of the tools you’ll require to get you through the cleanse. Here’s what you should collect before you start:

  • Cutting board - for cutting the lemons
  • Sharp knife - again, for cutting the lemons
  • Juicer - this can be an electric or hand juicer, whatever you have on hand
  • Pitcher - for mixing up your Lemonade
  • Bottle - your best bet is a glass bottle, but for sure make it a BPA-free bottle

That’s it! Once you’ve got everything together, you’re ready to get going…

Recipe for making the Master Cleanse Lemonade

We recommend that you make each glass of Lemonade as you need it, but you can make a huge batch for the day if that is more conducive to your schedule. If you’re making each glass as you go, here are the proportions you’ll need for one serving of the cleansing beverage:

  • 2 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of Grade B organic maple syrup
  • 1/10 teaspoon of organic cayenne pepper
  • 8 ounces of water

But if you’re going to assemble your Lemonade once for the entire day, here’s your recipe:

  • 12 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice
  • 12 tablespoons of Grade B organic maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of organic cayenne pepper
  • 48 ounces of water

Making your Lemonade is simple and not time consuming. You start by rolling the lemons you’ll need on the counter or in your hand to get the juices flowing, then cut the lemon and juice it with your preferred juicing method. Then add the remaining ingredients and stir or shake!

Breaking the Master Cleanse Diet

As with any fast, it is important to ease yourself back into the world after taking your body through such a different dietary experience. This will prevent you from feeling any negative side effects of re-entering the normal world of eating (like nausea or constipation) and will give your stomach and digestive tract time to prepare to receive food again. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!

To break the cleanse, you essentially do the reverse of what you did to ease into the cleanse.

  • On the first day, juice enough oranges to make 3 liters of orange juice which you can then dilute and drink with a bit of maple syrup to taste. This is the only thing you should intake on this day.
  • On the second day, add juiced fruits and veggies back into your diet. You can also drink broth.
  • On the third day, add back whole/cooked fruits and vegetables.

After your third day, you should be able to drink regular foods as before, only now, you’ll appreciate all that your body does every day to keep your insides clean. Hopefully, that’ll mean choosing healthier options from here on in!

It is also highly recomended to also start to take a probiotic once you break the fast to restor the benificial bactiria to you digestive track. This will help in so many ways and help with digestion.
