Why we Need to Detox—Common Poisons and How They Affect our Bodies

sickIt feels like there’s a new fad detox diet being touted by celebrities and health authors every month, each claiming to be able to help us with a myriad of health problems. But why do we need to detoxify our bodies in the first place? Is this really necessary? Aren’t our bodies equipped to deal with whatever we throw at them? Can’t they cope with everyday assaults from a variety of sources? Isn’t that the job of the body?

How We Become Sick

Unfortunately, there’s more to it than that. For perhaps the first time in history, the human body is being bombarded with more toxic attacks at a rate that’s next to impossible to keep up with. We intake harmful substances in a whole range of ways:

  • We breathe in air that has been poisoned with chemicals and particulate matter that can build up in our respiratory and circulatory systems. Air pollutants can be found in a variety of common everyday products including personal fragrances, room freshening sprays and oils, dry-cleaned clothing, paints and stains, glues, scented candles, bug sprays, furniture, rugs, personal care products, and furniture polish.
  • Toxins are also introduced into the air through vehicle exhaust, commercial processes, energy production, electronics, and many other sources.
  • We eat foods laced with chemicals—agricultural pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers, stabilizers, preservatives, growth hormones, pharmaceuticals, artificial dyes and flavorings, and more. Many of these are synthetic, petroleum-based ingredients that are not digestible and potentially damaging with long-term exposure.
  • Our diet consists of unhealthy quantities of saturated fat, white sugar, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods and not nearly enough healthy ingredients—fruits, vegetables, legumes, beans, and whole grains.
  • Our daily intake of water is much lower than it should be. Instead, we consume beverages such as soda, coffee, and sugary juices.
  • We apply dozens of chemicals to our skin, and our skin can absorb as much as 60 percent of these chemicals. The average female will use 12 products on their skin every day, each containing at least 10 different chemicals. In the US, only 11 percent of these products have been tested for safety and a full one-third have been proven to be carcinogenic!

It’s no surprise, then, that our bodies have a big job to do. With so many potential threats to the health of our bodies, it’s no wonder that we don’t generally feel at our best. We’re sluggish, have regular headaches, we have problem skin, our digestive systems are slow and uncomfortable, and we can’t even think clearly!

The Problem with Toxins

Although there are many elimination organs in the body—the skin, the lungs, the liver, the kidneys, and more—the colon is the biggest waste processor in the body. When it’s not performing optimally, neither is the rest of the body. In fact, it can become backed up—fecal matter builds up to the point of increasing our feelings of ill health.

When waste backs up in the colon, it can build up in the intestinal walls, making them unable to do the work of elimination. Over time, this will spread to other systems. It will cause other organs in the body to become sluggish and inefficient and can lead to things like acne, body odor and bad breath, sexual dysfunction, joint and nervous system pain, weight gain, hair loss, poor memory, and uncomfortable digestion.

Knowing When You Need A Cleanse

It’s easy to identify when you’re in need of a detox cleanse. Here are some of the most common symptoms that are signs that your body is sick:

  • You’re plagued with regular acne and/or your skin is pale with dark spots.
  • You experience persistent fatigue and sluggishness.
  • You don’t experience daily bowel movements and/or you experience regular bouts of diarrhea and constipation.
  • You’re unable to lose weight despite many attempts at reducing your calorie or fat intake.
  • You frequently suffer from body odor or bad breath despite good personal hygiene.
  • You frequently become sick with a cold or flu.

If any number of these describe you, you’re likely in need of a good detox regimen to help your body return to health.

The Solution: Detoxification through The Master Cleanse

Why get an enema when you can clean out your colon naturally and simply at home? An enema consists of inserting a tube into your rectum and flushing the colon with a liquid mixture. This breaks up the build-up of stool and toxins which are then expelled back out again. This is an uncomfortable and often unpleasant experience.

But there are better ways to detoxify your colon. By doing a Master Cleanse, you can reclaim your health by helping your body eliminate all the toxins it’s exposed to on a daily basis. The Master Cleanse, known alternatively as the Lemonade Cleanse, The Maple Syrup Diet, and the Lemonade Diet, is one of the most effective, inexpensive ways to help your body Detox and heal itself.

In effect, the Master Cleanse Diet is one method for unclogging the colon of all that is built up in the system over time. By fasting (eliminating solid food from your diet) for 10 days and consuming healthful ingredients like organic lemons, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and filtered water, you’ll help the colon begin to clear itself of the build-up of fecal matter and toxins(check out our full Master Cleanse directions ).

You’ll also take natural, gentle laxative tea to get the digestive system really working. And you’ll consume a Salt Water Flush to assist in the elimination of those nasty toxins that are dragging you down. You can get all of the details by checking out our full Master Cleanse directions article.

This simple system that uses everyday ingredients will help you return to health safely and effectively. You’ll lose weight, increase your energy, experience increased mental acuity, have healthier looking skin, and get back to having regular, healthy digestive movements. It’s a whole-body healing system that’ll have you wondering why you haven’t been detoxing until now!
